Kyutai's 18 September 2024 release of the first real-time full-duplex spoken LLM, runnable locally: Helium 7B text backbone trained on 2.1T tokens plus the Mimi streaming codec (24 kHz, 1.1 kbps), ~200ms practical latency against ~230ms for human conversation. Code Apache-2.0, weights CC-BY 4.0, with PyTorch, MLX and Rust backends.
