GaussiAnimate

A SIGGRAPH Asia 2026 method, with its full code released 12 October, that rigs animatable subjects from reconstructed 4D Gaussian Splatting or mesh sequences, including clothed humans, quadrupeds, birds and garments. It combines a kinematic skeleton with free-form bones in a representation called skelebones, and creates new motion through Partwise Motion Matching, which retrieves and blends existing bone motions. The authors report 17.3% PSNR gains over Linear Blend Skinning on unseen poses, 21.7% over Bag-of-Bones and, with about 1,000 frames of data, 48.4% lower RMSE than robust skinning, self-reported. MIT code; paper arXiv 2604.08547 (April).
